What’s the advantage for business?
Let’s talk straight – energy surveys are your route to saving money. For instance why pay more to heat and light your building than you need to? You could have the same level of heating and lighting but pay less once the survey has highlighted the areas where energy waste is occurring.
Efficiency needn’t cost the earth; the good thing is that usually improvements can be paid for by the energy savings themselves, with payback times for basic improvements starting at just one year. Even relatively small improvements can have an impact on your energy costs and together with tax incentives, the case for energy efficiency can often be viewed on the basis of an investment.

- Businesses get 100% tax relief when installing energy efficient equipment (ECA listed)
- A commercial EPC is valid for 10 years
- Interest free loans are available from the Carbon Trust for energy efficiency projects. Energy savings should usually cover the loan repayments.
- Landlords and property managers have a responsibility to make an EPC available.
What comes after the EPC?
We can take the calculations already made a stage further to re-model your building – this will show the likely savings you’d make if certain improvements were made. Many clients ask that we do this.
Assisting our clients when considering the right improvements can not only lower energy costs and emissions, but may help them qualify for interest free loans as well as be eligible for 100% tax relief when replacing certain equipment. The boiler scrapage scheme will also provide a one off grant that can reduce the cost of boilers in certain situation.
